A message to all members of New to Sikhi forum!
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa , Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
Ning announcement is out and new plans and pricing announced! Ning Network is phasing out our free service in July. As a creator of this community I have decided that I would like to stay with Ning.
I can't imagine losing such great members and friends like you all! We have great bunch of people from different continents.
We have Kavaljeet Singh who told us about Sikhs in World Wars; Jason who started most popular thread Founding Sikhism; my old blogger friend Moonstruckmommy, my brother (can I call you like this?) asli sikh from Ottawa; The Turbanator (Jags), Gursewak Singh Matharu, Gagandeep SinghPrabhjot Singh Sran, Kuldeep Singh Khalsa and Kannan Singh who are helping us to discover Sikhi.
Thanks to Tamara Sharp, OmDan, Anthony Gonsalves for sharing theirs stories & Sonia for promoting Gora Sikhs. As well I was happy to see Gurumustuk Singh (Mr Sikhnet and great Sikh personality) & Mai Harinder Kaur who is 43.75% gori, 6.25% Inuit, 50% Punjabi and 100% Sikh. ( Thanks for great sikh smileys - we want more). Welcome to the newest members - Anna-Maria, Iqbal Singh, Prithi Hardkaur (Fi Hackett), Jassu, Andrea
Young and Gurukarm Kaur Khalsa!
There are so many great people and new faces, I can't let you go and dissappear into the thin air.
I have decided to cover the costs myself but if you wish to help me you can donate. There is a donate button on the main homepage. Thanks in advance.
Looking forward hearing from you.
Yours, Danka

My sister photos: Latvia, Daugavplis
Good morning to everyone! So the New Year 2010 has started. I wonder what will it bring to us? I would like to start this year with beautiful pictures made by my sister. Photos of Latvian city, Daugavpils. My city! My sister sees beauty everywhere. (Click this link to see her collection of pictures)
There are many readers who come on my blog to get more information about indians/sikhs in Latvia. As I don't live in LV at the moment, I know very nice blog about Riga (capital of Latvia) in English with a lot of pictures. Go to Riga.in If you have any question about Latvia, leave your comment and I will answer.
All the best!

S.W.A.T.: Start year by doing something good!
I don't know how I found this group Help the SOUTHALL SIKH Homeless S.W.A.T on Facebook but somehow it's very close to my heart... I always wanted to volunteer and I have a lot of respect for those people who go on the streets and help...
Did you know there are over 100 young men from Punjab living on the streets of Southall? These people live in dustbins, cemetery's, under the bridges and etc. To read more go to: http://www.facebook.com/groups.php?ref=sb#/group.php?gid=213324916455
Please donate to SWAT (Help the SOUTHALL SIKH Homeless - S.W.A.T) They have now set up a PAYPAL account to accept donations: please email swathomeless@hotmail.com with the amount you would like to donate. Contact info:s5dhillon@aol.com07943118441
There should be many reasons why these people are on the streets... One of them could be Indian students facing desperate times in the UK Very good article!

No comment day
If u think that u are tired, u are really tired.
If u think u couldn't, it means u will not.
If u want to win but u think
u will not,u probably lose.
In life battles not always will win
most strong and fast-thinking,
but soon or later win
that who was thinking that he is able to do it.

How Sikhs celebrate Christmas? Do they?
How do Sikhs celebrate Christmas? Do they? Really depends on the family and the country of their residence. Me and my husband are celebrating his and mine holidays and festivals: Diwali, Easter, Lori, Christmas...? What about you?
If you are looking for sikh desi gifts you can visit my website Desi Legend. There you can buy sikh orientated t-shirts, jumpers, hoodies, sikh baby clothes, stickers, mugs and many more. Please support me (I'm a new WAHM in a recession time) and buy from my website.

Happy Diwali from Gori Sikh!
Happy Diwali 2009 to all my readers and fellow bloggers! Last year I saw my first Diwali in India and it was crazy. The sky was white at the night from fireworks and local area was like New Year's Eve in Latvia. Beautiful! Golden Temple in Amritsar was unbelievable beatiful place to be (that year sikhs celebrated the release from prison of the sixth guru, Guru Hargobind Ji). I wish I was there with my Indian family!
