Indians travelling to Latvia

I'm very humbled to read the following news from economictimes.indiatimes.com
"Your holiday in Bali or Venice this summer is no longer hip — your neighbour may have beaten you by many miles with a rather exotic, out-of-the-box locale. Where’s he going — Kazakhstan, Estonia, Latvia or Marrakech, Fez, Meknes, Cappadocia, Pamukkale or Kusadasi?"
I'm from Latvia and very happy to hear news like this. Latvia is the country which was closed for tourists till 1991. When we got independence, we were allowed to travel and others we able to come here.

Now it's 2008 and Latvia has changed a lot (I mean in a good sense). If you are planning to travel to Latvia, that's great. You will probably fly to Riga, the capital of Latvia. Many people, especially younger generations speak English, so you won't have problem. I suggest you to spend your time in Old Riga (Vecriga). Old Riga is beautiful medieval city in the city center. There are many cafes and restaurants. As well there are many different city tours: walking or bus tour. I took my jaan on one of them. Really nice!

Food: go to Lido! Very nice atmosphere and very good selection of food.

Seaside: If it's summer go to Jurmala! It's seaside resort which goes for 40 km. Don't expect crazy Spain-like resort. It's very peaceful and quiet.

If you want to know more about Latvia, ask me! Would be happy to help.
